Carrie Shapiro-Mendoza, PhD, MPH leads the CDC SUID Initiative and is the co-author of "US Infant Mortality Trends Attributable to Accidental Suffocation and Strangulation in Bed From 1984 Through 2004: Are Rates Increasing? "published in Pediatrics, February 2009.

Lena Teresa Camperlengo, RN, MPH, DrPH student is the Program Coordinator for the SUID Initiative at CDC whose responsibilities include the multi-state SUID case registry.
